This is a project-level account from RoadVision AI's road survey programme for NHAI's UP (East) Regional Office, covering the Repair and Maintenance of National Highway-128A, from its junction with NH-28 near Mohammadpur, through Badshahpur, to its junction with NH-31 near Jaunpur, in Uttar Pradesh. It sets out what the survey window of 10 to 11 August 2026 found, and why a maintenance contract on a secondary highway is exactly where an independent condition record earns its keep.
NH-128A is a secondary national highway located entirely in Uttar Pradesh. It starts at its junction with NH-28 near Mohammadpur, passes through Bardah and Gaura Badshapur (Badshahpur), and ends at its junction with NH-31 near Jaunpur, a length of approximately 72 km. The survey record carries 68.8 km of road.
The highway is a mix of two-lane and four-lane sections, with, for example, around 7 km of two-lane and 38.69 km of four-lane works reported under NHAI. It undergoes regular repair, maintenance and road-safety enhancement projects, overseen by the Azamgarh PIU under the UP (East) Regional Office.
A secondary highway rarely gets the attention of a major trunk route, and a repair and maintenance contract is about keeping what exists in order rather than building something new. That makes it hard to tell, from a desk or an occasional visit, whether the work being paid for is going where the need is. A consistent, chainage-tied record answers that: it shows what is wrong, how urgent it is, and whether it has been put right by the next survey.
Every finding sits on a live GIS map, with each inspection point opening to its exact location, the defect flagged, and the frame behind it in both original and AI-annotated form. Figure 1 shows the highway for the survey window of 10 to 11 August 2026, with an inspection point captured after dark on the evening of 10 August, flagging shoulder vegetation growth and faded pavement marking. A night frame is a reminder that the survey records conditions as road users meet them, after dark as well as by day.

The survey window of 10 to 11 August 2026 rated 27.55 km of the road: 24.51 km (89.0%) Good, 1.35 km (4.9%) Fair and 1.69 km (6.1%) Poor. In the roadway-surface view, RoadVision AI logged 338 findings across three defect types. Shoulder vegetation growth accounts for 291 (86.1%), potholes for 30 (8.9%) and cracking for 17 (5.0%).

Each survey gives the Azamgarh PIU and the UP (East) Regional Office a defect ID, chainage and survey reference for every finding, independent of the agency doing the work. A later survey of the same chainage then shows whether the finding has been closed out, so that verification does not rest on the maintaining agency's own account.

RoadVision AI is committed to continuous AI-based road monitoring along NH-128A from Mohammadpur to Jaunpur, giving NHAI a consistent, chainage-level record of a road that deserves the same scrutiny as any trunk route. Keeping that record current, survey after survey, is how a maintenance contract on a secondary highway can be shown to be doing its job.
